Southern California Backcountry Discovery Route Map (CABDR-South) - BDR Series Map

First Edition

$21.95

The Southern California BDR is an 840-mile backcountry adventure motorcycle route built for riders looking to explore the raw, untamed beauty of the California desert. Designed specifically as the first winter-season BDR, this route allows ADV motorcyclists to ride deep into iconic desert landscapes during the cooler months—when the terrain is most accessible and the experience unforgettable.

Beginning near the U.S.–Mexico border, the route carves a thrilling path through rugged two-track, remote dirt roads, rocky riverbeds, and deep sandy washes. Riders will traverse legendary terrain, including the Mojave National Preserve and Death Valley National Park, experiencing towering sand dunes, vast salt flats, and narrow slot canyons that define the American Southwest.

This ride is as challenging as it is scenic, demanding skill, preparation, and a spirit for true backcountry travel. Along the way, you’ll find solitude, wide-open skies, and some of the most iconic desert riding in the world.

Ideal Riding Season: Late fall through early spring. Summer temperatures in this region are dangerously high and should be avoided.

Whether you're escaping the cold or chasing epic desert riding, the Southern California BDR is the ultimate winter adventure for dual-sport and ADV motorcycle riders.
