This map, along with all the BDR-X maps, are produced solely by the BDR. While Butler Maps supplies all cartographic information, the design and printing are handled by them.

The Ozarks BDR-X is a 450-mile backcountry adventure route that cuts deep into the Ozark–St. Francis National Forest of northwest Arkansas—one of the most underestimated riding destinations in the American heartland. Designed by Backcountry Discovery Routes, this highly anticipated route delivers a striking mix of primitive two-track, flowing forest roads, pristine river crossings, and scenic twisty pavement through some of the most lush, dramatic terrain The Natural State has to offer.

Threading through dense hardwood forests, past towering sandstone bluffs, and across clear Ozark streams, the route rewards riders with constantly shifting scenery—each mile revealing new canyon views, canopied ridgelines, and the quiet wildness of one of the South's most intact national forests. With dozens of water crossings woven throughout, this route keeps you engaged from start to finish.

What sets the Ozarks BDR-X apart is its ambition. Featuring 10 optional advanced sections—more than any other BDR route to date—it gives skilled riders the ability to push into genuinely technical terrain while keeping the core route accessible to adventure and dual-sport machines of all skill levels. The result is a route that scales with the rider, never losing its sense of challenge or discovery.

Along the way, small Arkansas towns offer fuel, food, and a taste of Ozark culture rooted in generations of hunting, timber, and river life. It's a region with deep character—and the BDR-X gives you just enough of the beaten path to feel it without ever staying on it for long.

From mist-covered ridgelines above river hollows to open forest tracks that seem to go on forever, the Ozarks BDR-X delivers the kind of riding that riders across Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and the broader Midwest have long deserved—a world-class backcountry route right in their backyard.

Best riding season: April through November. Spring brings lush green conditions and full rivers; fall delivers exceptional foliage and cooler temperatures. Winter riding is possible but unpaved sections can become impassable following heavy rain or ice.
